We developed a series of concise, informative pamphlets designed to guide informal workers about their legal employment rights. These pamphlets cover topics like minimum wage entitlements, anti-discrimination policies and workplace safety measures. Prior to distribution among local communities and workshop session attendees, they were also translated into Hindi to account for more reach and inclusivity.Â
Welfare4Aid is a public-access repository that documents government welfare schemes across sectors like employment, healthcare and financial assistance. The easy-to-navigate database includes eligibility criteria, application processes, necessary documents and guidance on benefits. By compiling this information, we aim to bridge gaps in awareness and allow for better access to life-changing schemes for vulnerable workers. This repository is also shared with our partner NGO to extend its impact across multiple networks. Â
We also designed the Knowledge4Aid Template, which is a detailed survey aimed at understanding specific and current job-related challenges faced by informal workers in India. The questions seek to examine serious issues such as wage inequalities, lack of contracts and limited access to health and social-care benefits. The findings from this survey provide valuable data we hope helps identify recurring problems and direct more specific advocacy efforts and policy recommendations.Â
We also began authoring and publishing a blog series to shed focus on the specific labor economics issues that affect informal workers in India. Articles in these series hope to balance complicated academic research with more practical insights that are understood by a wider audience, including the general public, policymakers and NGOs. Some topics include productivity assessment, economic shocks, gender and informal work as well as technology in labor markets. Read here.

Over a series of in-person sessions with over 1200 students, across three schools in Darbhanga, Bihar itself, we addressed critical issues including personal health and menstrual hygiene.
